RANT ALERT It seems like such a no-brainer to me that Toyota would do all in its power to save GM and Chrysler. If your major competitors were six or seven years behind in the design and development curve over the last 30 years, overpaid their workers and produced a crappy product, why would you want them to disappear? These guys just don't get it and never will. The most current example is that while oil was rising to its peak last year they were releasing new models which offered - what I assume they believe ever real American wants in a fine vehicle - refrigerators. If they did go under, Toyota could never fill the gap in car demand. Imagine the window of opportunity this would be for cottage car makers with truly innovative engineering ideas and how easy it would be for them to acquire venture capital. Small electric manufactures could grow into global players. Toyota certainly does not want this. Or it could be that Toyota execs have taken apeak into the parking lots of GM and Chrysler factories and don't want to see some of their best customers lose their jobs. DISCLAIMER: I have owned and operated Toyota vehicles exclusively for the past 18 years and last summer managed to find after a long search my dream 1991 Toyota MR2 with only 40K mileage. I love to death. Regards, Beav
