Here's a personal anecdote for Ms. Kellaway.

Out of 6 kids that hung together in high school in the 70's (another tough period for employment) 4 of us relocated to find work.

I went to sea on tankers, my brother moved to Switzerland to be a pattern maker, Mike-1 went to the Arctic to work as a cook, and Mike-2 moved to Germany to sell software.

None of us could have found these jobs anywhere near where we lived.

I don't want to come off sounding like one of those "we had to walk ten miles through waist deep snow just to get to school" kind of sermons, but seriously.... how many kids today would do what we did to get ahead?
