George Phillips, an elderly man from Meridian, Mississippi, was going to bed when his wife remarked that the light was on in the shed. George opened the back door to go turn off the light but saw people in the shed stealing things.

He phoned the police, who asked, "is someone in your house?"

He said "No, but some people are in my shed stealing."

The police dispatcher said, "all patrols are busy you should lock your doors and an officer will be along when available."

George said, "okay" and hung up.

He waited 30 seconds then called the police again.

He said, " hello, I just called a few seconds ago because my shed was being broken into, well, you don't have to worry about it now because I just shot the thieves." he then hung up.

Within 5 minutes six police cars, a SWAT team, a helicopter, two fire trucks, a paramedic and an ambulance showed up at their home, the burglars were caught red handed.

A police sgt went over to George and said, "I thought you said that you had shot them!"

George said, " I thought you said that no one was available."
