Kenya's High Court Grants Interim Order to African Queen's JV Partner Abba Mining Against Adverse License Claimant


Vancouver, British Columbia CANADA, March 31, 2011 /FSC/ - African Queen Mines Ltd. (AQ - TSX Venture, QM0 - FWB), (the "Company") announces that the High Court of Kenya in Kisumu has issued a formal order staying the effectiveness of the adverse license claim of B & M Mining Company ("B & M") covering 15 sq. km in the Kamwango area which is also covered by Special License no. 287 previously granted January 22, 2010, to Abba Mining Company ("Abba"), which covers an aggregate of 112 sq. km. (Please see the Company's Press Release dated February 14, 2011.) The order is in effect for a period of up to 60 days to allow for disposition by the Court of the substantive merits of the dispute. The matter has now been scheduled for hearing on the merits on May 12, 2011.


The effect of the interim order is to allow the Company to continue work on the Kamwango prospect of its Rongo Gold Fields property under its joint venture with Abba, without interference from B & M or its affiliates pending formal adjudication by the Court of the merits of the dispute. The order was contained in a detailed 15 page opinion issued by the Hon. Judge R.N. Nambuye allowing Prayer 5 of the application previously filed on February 15, 2011 by Abba Mining Company.


The Company is active in Kenya exploring the Rongo Gold Fields Project with Abba. It has completed its Phase 1 field exploration program in 2010 and is now readying targets for a comprehensive core drilling program which is scheduled to commence within the next few months. The Company also has commenced exploration of the Ugunja Gold Project to the North under a separate joint venture with Kenya Discovery Limited and has applications pending with the Commissioner of Mines and Geology for exploration licenses covering other highly prospective areas in Kenya.
