Stock in Waterloo, Ont.-based solar energy product maker Arise Technologies Inc. jumped 11 per cent yesterday, after the company announced it will sell high-efficiency photovoltaic cells to German solar giant Solon AG. The five-year deal will see the product shipped from Arise's new German plant, which is expected to begin producing in the second quarter of 2008. Analyst Ralph Garcea of Hayward Securities Inc. said the deal is a "vote of confidence" in Arise's ability to deliver cells on time. More than five million Arise shares traded yesterday. APV (TSX) rose 22 cents to $2.17.
