solon just took a 40 mil euro charge to get out of silicon venture. Now they need to come up with a new supplier of high purity silicon-same method as Arise-high eff and purity-more business potential here for Arise as they already have a 212 MW contract
Degussa and Silicium de Provence (Silpro), a company set up by Econcern, Solon, Norsun and PPT, have signed a letter of intent (LOI) for the development of a joint fence-to-fence operation in St. Auban (France). The factory will have an initial capacity of more than 3,000 tons per year of high-purity polysilicon for the photovoltaic market. In the planned set-up Degussa intends to build a chlorosilanes production plant to supply Silpro with high-purity Siridion® Chlorosilanes.* Silpro has chosen the proven Siemens deposition process for maximum purity levels, which ensures the highest cell efficiency. Silpro and Degussa will continue to work on the basic engineering over the coming months.
