To Atlantic Wind and Solar Mr. Thomas W. Cleland, B.Sc. Eng, LE, ET, EET, brings a coveted balance of technical expertise and field experience combined with a spirit of entrepreneurship.

After a degree in Natural Sciences and Electrical Engineering at McMaster University he continued on to a Bachelors in Electronics Engineering at DeVry, Toronto / DeVry University, Arizona, later being offered the position of Dean of Physics, Mathematics and Robotics with the DeVry University group but opted to remain in the private sector, thankfully for us, choosing the practical over the theoretical. Besides being a Licensed Industrial Electrician, Certified Electronics Technician, and Certified Electronics Engineering Technologist he has published academic papers on energy conversion and electronics with several innovative designs in Electrical Process & Control being featured in publications as “state of the art”.

In his 30 years in Canadian leading-edge high-tech he has helped create companies, ground-breaking business management software, successful national sales programs, and a corporate merger/acquisition.

Tom is currently involved heavily with the partially privately owned Hybridyne group, holders of several patents relating to proprietary energy conversion-inversion, power-management, and interface technologies in the renewable energy arena. Tom serves as President, CEO & Director of Technical Marketing for Hybridyne Power Systems Canada, the design and engineering group that leads the Hybridyne Group of Companies, assembled to focus on greenhouse gas reduction and renewable energy production. He is also President & CTO of Hybridyne Power Generation Corp. plus President & CEO of Hybridyne Power Electronics Inc. among other titles.

To Atlantic Wind and Solar Mr. Buckendahl brings a strong educational background in economics, an in-depth working knowledge of the financial markets, and a broad European perspective.

With 12 years experience in the financial industry he has worked in the Government and Mortgage Backed Securities market, with the French brokerage company Finacor, dealing with institutional clients all over Europe; has worked as a broker and trader for German and European equities with Trigon Bank; and has worked with Credit Suisse in Private Banking, Frankfurt, Germany and Credit Suisse Asset Management in Nassau, Bahamas.

Amongst his past clients were many involved in the renewable energy field in countries where the market is much more mature than in North America and the Caribbean. His knowledge and contacts will be an asset to Atlantic Wind and Solar.

Mr. Martin W. Baldwin BSc, BA, BEd, MBA

To his position on the Board of Atlantic Wind and Solar Mr. Martin Baldwin, BSc, BA, BEd, MBA, brings experience and capability in business and finance gained through fifteen years of successful employment in banking and finance globally at senior management levels.

Martin worked as a trader/trading director for The Bank of Nova Scotia. He traded interest rate products for various currencies in the bank’s operations in Toronto, Singapore, New York, and London as well as served a brief stint in Jakarta with an affiliate bank during the Indonesian currency crisis. In 2002 he accepted the challenge of setting up Scotiabank’s new Caribbean Treasury Unit in Nassau, Bahamas where he remained until joining Atlantic Wind and Solar in 2008.

Martin was a teacher for the US Army in Europe and the Middle East. He also lived and worked in Australia, Hong Kong and Japan. His broad educational background, including bachelors’ degrees in Computer Science, English Literature and Education, plus a Masters of Business Administration in Finance and International Business, means he brings a unique perspective to most problems and opportunities.
