AGORACOM Maintenance Alert: Going Offline Tonight, and Friday night for about an hour

Dear Members.

AGORACOM will be updating our server framework tonight and tomorrow night. As a result our discussion forums will be down for 1 hour or less.

These problems stemmed from our recent switch to a new web host and some issues with our DNS records (the settings that tell your web browser where our website is located). We believe we have squashed these bugs and are looking forward to pushing these updates through.

In anticipation of this scheduled maintenance we suggest the following:

1. If you are going to post any long and intensive material after 6PM either tonight or on Friday night, save a copy. We don’t expect to lose any data from the last 2-3 hours but better to be safe than sorry

2. Our blog (which you are reading right now) and Twitter account will be unaffected during the downtime, so feel free to contact us at either if you have any issues and can’t reach us through the site.

Best thing to do is to post comments on our blog. Alternatively you can reach us by emailing contactagora@agoracom.com

3. We expect the migration to be very smooth but please let us know if you have any issues.

4. If you are in Toronto, or the GTA, enjoy the weather! Summer is here so go out and have some fun!

We trust the above to be satisfactory as we strive to continually provide you with a great AGORACOM experience.

Thanks,
George and the AGORACOM Team

Re: AGORACOM Issues Press Release/ Kinross takeout

I second that motion! George, all of your input and interaction is truly appreciated. Your posts make Agoracom feel like a TRUE 'community', and for that I thank you! :)

I am going to opine on the possibility being floated regarding a Major taking out K at a later date. Let's look at the external variables, shall we?

1. Ecuadorian Mining laws are due at the beginning of October. The Majors well be fully aware of the specifics of these laws. If the laws are unfavorable (and there is no chance they will be) the Majors will want no part of the Ecuador property anyway. They also have no desire to be involved in Russia.

2. Theory of a cheaper/diluted K share price post-takeover. This would coincide with mining laws to be released. This is also the start of the seasonal gold bull run. Posters on here are assuming K shall STAY low in price, but this commodity correction is temporary. All indications are for further rate cuts, and the next economic meltdown could be only DAYS away. The Majors CAN and WILL go parabolic at any time.

K lands ARU, gold and gold equities take off, then rumors start about K being a takeout target - K shares move to short-term highs BEFORE a suitor throws in a bid at a premium?!? Do the math, there are FAR to many variables to consider as we start the seasonal bull. The the upside financial risks are astronomical, when all the Majors want is FDN. There are FAR too many unknowns in the immediate future to take the risk of possbly adding BILLIONS to the tab for this single prized property!

IF K held a cachet of other prime South American (or the like) properties, the theory could hold water, but when the core holding is a property that will be seized at any time, there is FAR too much risk compared to just throwing a few billion for this 40 million ounce-plus reserve outright.

Besides, this is counter-intuitive, but makes for GREAT press/progando, no? "Oh well, I might as well tender, K will likely get taken out down the road anyway". HOGWASH!

The Majors have TEAMS of analysts, insiders, intelligence-gatherers, and know the score at ALL times. They are not worried and are biding their time. I'm sure they find the recent arrangement of their intellectual inferiors mildly annoying, like the proverbial August Fruit Fly. Nothing more than that.

Let K take out what could be the biggest find of the last and possibly NEXT dozen years, only to in asll probability pay a HEFTY premium for additional garbage assets down the road? I don't think so.....

Hold tight, and as F.F. so eloquently stated;

"When it is all said and done, it is my beleif that Pat may have ended up sacrificing the most in order to get a deal secured for the long term benefit of shareholders. Of course you will have to remain a shareholder to benefit."

Best of luck to all,

Permaflation
