Senior Exchange

posted on Jun 27, 09 12:57PM

I realize this is not feasible at the moment, but if and when some major news or revenue generation occurs, I assume management will seek listing on a more senior exchange (if they still need capital to expand). When significant announcements (eg: positive clinical trial result) are made, the market would normally react much more dramatically than it has to BOCX on the OTC. To that end, what are the minimum requirements these days from, say, NASDAQ or the TSX? Can anyone suggest a specific link?

It is an unfortunate chicken;egg dilemna that companies like BOCX find themselves in. Microcaps are often forced to seek initial listing on smaller exchanges, which tend to have less credibility/visibility with investors. And yet they usually need significant financing/visibility to get to the senior exchange.

Anyone who doubts the challenges of "junior" exhcanges needs only talk to a longtime investor with experience in the old Vancouver Exchange. When reviewing a company that listed there, the first questions a savvy investor would typically ask are:

  1. Why are you on the VSE?
  2. How/when do you plan to move to the TSX?

I really think that the OTC listing is helping to hold this company's stock price down. Not a concern in the long run, but it requires a lot of patience now.
