AGORACOM "Getting Started" Tips

posted on Oct 08, 2007 11:14AM

Good afternoon to you all and welcome aboard!  We're happy to see that you are all finding your way around the HUB pretty well but for those of you still getting used to it, we've taken the liberty of providing you with the following powerful tips to make your experience even better:

AGORACOM GET STARTED TIPS:

Start out by reading, posting and responding to others.  After all, that is what we are here to do.

Second, we've made very easy to navigate between your favourite HUBS by listing all of them right underneath the stock quote and chart on the right hand side of the page.  Just click "Add to Favourites" and you'll be able to surf between HUBS with just one click.

Third, make sure to immediately begin voting for members on a scale of 1-5.  The votes are anonymous, so nobody can see your votes (other than us).  As such, vote based on merit, not friendship.  It is in everyone's best interests that only the best members move up the ladder, as those members are the ones that will have one-click ability to delete offending posts and members.  Ideally, it would be great to see 3-5 HUB leaders within a couple of months.

*Note - If someone has proven themselves to be a standout on another website, we'll grant them immediate HUB Leader status.  You can also nominate someone at the outset when you first request a new HUB**

You vote for someone when reading their post and clicking on the stars (1-5) underneath their photo/shadow.  You can change your vote at anytime if you feel the member has improved or deteriorated.  The member's authority on the site will rise and fall with their new rating, so all members of this HUB are essentially the check and balancing system.  Now that's power!

Fourth, make sure to recommend posts that are valuable by clicking on the green thumb at the bottom of the post.

Fifth, fill out your profile and fun favourites so that your fellow investors on this HUB can get to know you (and each other) better.  How do you do that?  Just click on your avatar/shadow to be taken to your profile page, or click on your username at the very top right hand corner of the website.  It takes about 5 minutes and you score a lot of points for filling it out.

**Note- you can post a video message to your fellow investors from your profile page. Check it out**

It is important to note that you score points for just about every activity on the site, which helps you move up your ranking.  Why is that important? Read the next point.

Sixth, one of the best tools on AGORACOM is the ability for members to edit company info such as the profile, management, photos, shares outstanding, due diligence links and other important facts that are always out of date on forums that rely on antiquated feeds.  At AGORACOM, we believe in the "wisdom of crowds" and that nobody  knows the company better than its investors - so why not let you tell the story!

How do you edit these items?  Look for the pencil images and click on them.  To prevent abuse, all of these editable items require having obtained a level beyond mailroom, so rookies won't be able to edit these things right off the bat - but you now have even more incentive to get active and move up the ladder here.  This has never been done before and allows all of you to truly participate in the gathering of market intelligence.

Finally, if you are like most investors, you have multiple small-cap investments.  If you think AGORACOM is a great tool and you want to see all of your companies here, just Request A HUB.  It only takes 3-4 minutes and well worth the effort.  Please be sure to nominate a HUB Leader and provide us with the requested links for us to find them.

Hope this helps and thanks for making AGORACOM your new home. We trust tools like these set us apart from any alternative on the web.  If you agree, please help spread the word and keep requesting more HUBS!

Discussion Forums are never going to be the same.  Thanks for sharing the vision and being a part of it.

Regards,
George, Paul and The AGORACOM Team
