Mr. Gusella has been the CEO and a Director of Connacher since May 2001. Prior thereto, he started his career with Texaco in the 1960's. He was the President of Gusella Oil Investments Limited, a private oil and gas corporation, as well as the Chairman & CEO of Carmanah Resources Limited, a public oil and gas company listed on the Toronto Stock Exchange. Mr. Gusella was President and Chief Executive Officer of Sceptre Resources Limited from 1979 to 1991 during which time the company grew from approximately 500 boe/d to 50,000 boe/d. Sceptre's assets are now a significant part of Canadian Natural Resources Ltd. Prior to that Mr. Gusella spent a number of years in the investment banking business in various research and corporate finance roles. He is a past chairman of IPAC prior to its combination with CPA to form CAPP.
He is also the Executive Chairman of Petrolifera Petroleum Ltd. & a Director. Mr. Gusella received a BA degree in history and economics from the University of Alberta at Calgary and an MA degree in economics from the University of Calgary.
Mrs. Brenda Hughes CA is the Assistant Corporate Secretary. She has had extensive experience in all facets of financial accounting and governance in the oil and gas, and other industries. She is assisting management in the regulatory and corporate areas to streamline business efficiency and deal with the growing governance issues that abound for public companies. She also works in close liason with Connacher's external counsel to bring some of the reporting functions now handled externally, in house.
Mr. Marston holds a B.Sc. in Geological Engineering from the University of New Brunswick. He has close to 20 years of industry experience with both major and independent oil companies. Most recently he was employed for four years by a successful independent oil company in the position of Chief Geophysicist. Mr. Marston is responsible for the company's overall exploration activity, with a near term emphasis on Connacher's geological and geophysical evaluation program at its Great Divide oil sands property.
Mr. Johnson graduated as an Engineer with Distinction from the University of Saskatchewan and received his MBA from the University of Calgary. He is a professional engineer with 13 years of experience in the oil and mining industries, and has been involved in the oilsands for the past 8 years. He is responsible for the company's production, drilling and reservoir engineering functions, with a primary emphasis on the management and development of Connacher's unconventional bitumen properties at Great Divide. Prior to Connacher, Merle's roles have included production, development and facility engineering.
