That's what they report, which certainly could be manipulated. The interesting point of the numbers to me is how small the Chinese total is relative to their foreign reserves.

For Germany, Italy, and the Swiss gold is over half of their total reserves. For the Chinese it is only a few percent. Time for the Chinese to buy a few thousand tons a month for a while. Of course they will have to be secretive or the price would move sharply higher.
