The problem with Venezuela...

posted on Nov 01, 09 06:30AM

...is they make no F'n logical sense. Every time I've used logic to justify chasing the carrot called KRY, I've dug a bigger hole for myself. We can only hope that even Hugo, deluded megalomaniac that he is, will be just a tiny bit enlightened by the fallout of previous "nationalizations"....higher unemployment & labor unrest, larger deficits, drastic reduction in foreign investment and a growing arbitration backlog. I'm not as sanguine as some on this board about Hugo being voted out of power. I don't think he will have a problem utilizing voter fraud, intimidation, lawlessness and if required....force to remain in power.....so we could be stuck with him for quite awhile. My current insane (i.e. the definition of insanity according to Einstein was doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result) logical take on things is that we will not go bankrupt. As others have stated....there is simply too much money on our side of the table for this to happen. I believe we have been negotiating (or at least trying to negote) with these lying, incompetent, corrupt, destroyers of freedom & human rights. My full expectation is that Fung has given these clowns a deadline to shit or get off the pot of mid November. If there is no deal by that point in time, then arbitration will be announced. More hints in the press (one of last weeks posts by CJR I think) about preparations for Hugo's big visit to Bolivar state to address the mining sector. I guess we've heard that before too. In the category of "hope", perhaps a deal has already been done and we are simply waiting for a slot in Hugo's schedule so he can publically take credit. There is absolutely no evidence to support this. It will be interesting to see how our minor "financing" situation is addressed at the upcoming PR. Seems like KRY has no choice but to say SOMETHING meaningful about their plans to avoid bankruptcy by mid November....even if they have no other information of importance to convey. The Gold Reserve arbitration news shot around the world to everyone and anyone that might consider investing in a gold mine. If this is how Hugo thinks he is going to develop his fledgling mining sector, then he is truly a sick, sick individual. I guess we'll soon find out the true extent of his mental dysfunction.
