Colombia accuses Venezuela to destroy border steps To print Email
Friday, 20 of November of 2009

Colombia denounced that the Venezuelan military destroyed with explosives two pedestrian bridges in the binational border, in which described like a violatory act of international law, whereas vice-president Ramon Reedbeds and general Eusebio Omen, justify the action, inasmuch as they assured, is footbridges, used by the drug trafficking and the contraband

Eusebio, major general Omen, commander of the Military Trimming in the Táchira state, informed that both bridges that united to the border colombo-Venezuelan and that the neighboring country denounced that it bombed them to Venezuela are not such, but “pedestrian steps”. “With the destruction of these pedestrian steps he is avoided that drug trafficking enters Venezuelan territory, paramilitary and that is continued leaving the fuel and the food to the Republic Colombia”. She indicated that any person stopped by the crimes before mentioned does not exist since whenever they realised an operative one of security “of the Colombian side began to send stones against the military cash” and that by that action the decision was taken to bomb the “pedestrian steps”. Omen defended the action saying that it is a “sovereign decision” and that was realised of the Venezuelan side. “They were illegal steps. The steps that are established in the international conventions that are authorized that we know well by San Antonio and Ureña” and advanced that other illegal pedestrian steps will be destroyed.
