A pair calling themselves the "Masked Avengers", Marc-Antoine Audette and Sebastien Trudel from the Montreal radio station CKOI managed to get through to Governor Sarah Palin posing as President Nicolas Sarkozy .

Palin listens to "Sarkozy" telling her his wife Carla is "hot in bed" and that he is an avid hunter -"just love killing those animals. Mmm, mmm, take away life, that is so fun". When he mentions "Nailin' Paylin", a pornographic film with a Palin look-alike made by Larry Flynt, she seems to smell a rat but still answers: "Ohh, good, thank you, yes."

It's incredible that two comedians could get through to a vice-presidential candidate, though Sarkozy himself is a previous victim. Way back in 1995 I remember writing about the Queen getting tricked in the same way by a Canadian prankster.

Anyway, have a listen yourself. I think it could have been a lot worse for Palin. If someone you think is a foreign leader starts saying off-the-wall and tasteless things then it's not that surprising that you would humour them and play along a bit. All in all, she comes across fairly well - or at least a lot better than she did in those Katie Couric interviews.
