Message: A Christmas Story

There once was a small company that had a good battery. A government agency said it wanted to use this battery in a pilot project. The process for making parts of this battery used hazardous materials. The government said it wanted the battery made “in country”, but no hazardous chemicals allowed. Currently parts of this battery were made in another country because of the chemicals used. In order to get a follow on contract this company had to switch to an environmentally friendly manufacturing process and make the entire battery “in country”. What to do? Just the pilot was $30M.

  1. Get licensed to use Electrovaya’s process. Electrovaya gets the plant in the “Other country” as part of the fee + a continuing contract. (sub contractor)

  2. Small battery company starts hiring like crazy to staff the new battery process “in country”.

  3. Government gets battery built in country for supply security reasons.

That seems to leave out an LG Chem connection… Just a Christmas story, Merry Christmas.
