Message: Falcon to pursue large resource at Beetaloo

All that seismic work that Petrohunter did seems to have been a bit of a disappointment.

"Seismic data acquisition in the Beetaloo Basin faces a number of difficult challenges and the quality of the seismic is generally poor. This is primarily due to the near surface Tindall Formation carbonates and Antrim Formation volcanics. The Tindall carbonates are severely karsted and eroded and consequently have a variable thickness and interval velocity. The Antrim volcanics by nature significantly degrade the seismic signal. The combined challenges presented by these two near surface formations make it likely that even with newer acquisition and processing techniques, only marginal improvements can be made to the seismic data quality. This is evident in the approximately 700 kilometers of newer seismic acquired by Sweetpea in 2006, which in our opinion is as poor quality as the older seismic data. The near surface problems also make it difficult to attain good ties to synthetic seismograms generated from the well logs. Correlation of the seismic is further complicated by the various vintages of seismic acquisition and processing."
