Message: After the Election, We Won

150% Victory = Jean Lafleur = Getting More Than “We” Bargained For

“We” = “Shareholders for Accountability at Fancamp”

Point-by-point, Jean Lafleur agrees entirely with our reforms.
Besides that, he will, (literally) travel far to engage shareholders to achieve them.
He’s all ears. He’s eager to cooperate. All communications channels are open.
He wants to exceed our expectations. He wants to encourage us to come up
with even more reforms for him to put into practice.

Even though he’s a leader with technical credentials, I have his assurance that
the technical side of his work will not reduce one iota his dedication and
determination to get us shareholder returns and get the shareholder values
recognized. Indeed, I cannot publically say what his goals are because they’re
so ambitious the regulatory authorities would not approve of publicizing that
kind of thought process because its ambitiousness does not correspond, at
all, with the present market.

But the change of thinking at the top is undeniable. When the thinking turns
around, there are consequences. There are bonuses. It’s no longer a question
of selling our reforms to the CEO. Now, the CEO can’t wait to sell himself to us.
In the coming weeks, he will be giving us the list of reforms he’s in the process of
drawing up, which will compliment and go beyond our own reforms.

Our message has registered. My new problem is getting our new CEO to wait for
me to get the words out of my mouth before he agrees to every syllable of every
word I have to say. The need for us to sell our reforms to the powers at top has
vanished. It’s not even correct to phrase it that way because “we” now includes
Jean Lafleur, the latest member of “Shareholders for Accountability at Fancamp.”

I can recognize a 180 degree reversal in a company’s thinking when that fact has
been plainly expressed to me by the guy in charge. In answer to my questioning
him about how he came to be in charge, he gave me a detailed and convincing
explanation, which (for the sake of decorum and confidentiality) I cannot elaborate
on. But be reassured, I wasn’t born yesterday. What’s taken place has nothing
whatsoever to do with a game of “musical chairs,” as recently has been expressed,
repeatedly, on this Message Hub.

I will add, (believe them or reject them as I have), at least, the speculations about
what’s going on behind closed doors evidence some adult logic and adult thought
processes. I cannot say the same for the small minority of you (on this Message
Hub) who have recently reintroduced us all to the kind of obnoxious juvenile
misconduct the less unruly amongst us may dimly remember witnessing many
years ago in the schoolyard.

For those few amongst us who get some kind of sick guilty pleasure from playing
the role of a delinquent trouble-maker, when you feel like making an insulting
and mindless and inconsiderate comment, ask yourself how brave you really are.
Would you be using the same injurious language if you were facing the recipient
face to face? Or are you getting your jollies out of the fact you’re anonymous?

OK. I’ve had my say. I’m not entertaining an argument.
As they say, “If the shoe fits...”

You may think, I’ve not posted messages recently because of the decline in the
quality of the conversation here (due to a small minority). That’s not the case. I’m
not that thin-skinned.

Lately, I’ve written messages, yet thought better before posting them. That was
out of respect for the people I’ve been conversing with, as the Spokesman of
“Shareholders for Accountability at Fancamp.” Sometimes, when you’re getting
what you want, you don’t want to rock the boat by inadvertently publicizing
what the other guy possibly meant to be confidential. It’s not worth destroying
the building of a great new friendship out of carelessness and over-eagerness.

So, that’s the reason why what I say here may sound, at times, a little too cloak-
and-dagger. On the other hand, I hold no secrets. I only ask you to trust me a
little. So, I only ask you to do a little reading between the lines. Looking back,
I don’t think you will find that I’ve not lived up to the generous trust you’ve
given me.

#1) The close to one hundred letters and ancillary materials I mailed have borne
fruit. We won. Absolutely. Completely. Without qualification. As “Shareholders
for Accountability at Fancamp” intended, word got around. Our message circulated
in the right places, (to repeat) getting us more than we bargained for.

#2) Getting Jean Lafleur—and getting him with (to repeat) a 150% favorable frame
of mind—did not happen by chance. It happened because of a number of little and
not-so-little things, all due to the active support I’ve received on this Message Hub.

#3) One target, for example, was Marquest. Now (as I’ve asked you), read between
the lines: When you speak to somebody, often the message conveyed doesn’t end
there. It can lead to additional conversations with important investors (who have clout).

The changes that have taken place at the top are not window-dressing. This is just
the first round of the success of our initiatives.
