Central Sun Mining is a growing gold producer with mining and exploration activities focused in Central America. The Company operates the Limon Mine in Nicaragua, the Bellavista Mine in Costa Rica (which is closed pending operational changes) and a third mine, the La Libertad Mine in Nicaragua, which is in the process of being converted to conventional milling for the purpose of expanding annual gold output by over 50%. Glencairn also holds a 100% interest in the Mestiza Project 70 kilometres from the Limon Mine.
Management is by Peter Tagliamonte (formerly of Desert Sun), who has reassembled the former Desert Sun management along with other equally recognized experts respected worldwide for their expertise and ability into a high-profile team.
Current large investors include Yamana Gold, QVT Financial, Sprott Asset Management, and Sprott Gold & Precious Minerals Fund. A private placement added Aberdeen International, Inc. and a syndicate of underwriters led by Orion Securities Inc. and including Blackmont Capital Inc., Dundee Securities Corporation, and Wellington West Capital Inc. as major holders on 10/22/07.
