Golden Dawn Initiates Gold Confirmation Diamond Drilling Campaign

VANCOUVER, Apr 24, 2008 (Canada NewsWire via COMTEX News Network) --

TSX-V: GOM

FRANKFURT: 3G1

Golden Dawn Minerals Inc. (GOM:TSX-V) is preparing to commence a geophysical survey and diamond drilling program on May 1, 2008 on the Link-Catharine gold property located in the Boston-Skead gold corridor 15-35 km southeast of Kirkland Lake, northeastern Ontario. Drilling is designed to confirm gold mineralization intersected historically on the Link-Catharine vein system.

Mineralized intersections grading 6.0 g/t Au over 8.6 m, and 1.91 g/t Au over 20.4 m were reported from historical drilling that may not represent true vein widths. Within the intersection grading 6.0 g/t Au over 8.6 m, one core sample over a 1.10 m interval is comprised of a quartz-vein-flooded zone with 10% fine to coarse pyrite; this sample returned an assay value of 33.99g/t Au (1.09 oz/ton gold). The current exploration program is designed to confirm and explore for extensions of this style of mineralization.

A diamond drilling program of at least 1,000 metres is being planned to complement a program of 125 line-km of line-cutting, magnetometer and VLF electromagnetic surveying, together with selected induced polarization (IP) coverage.

The Link-Catharine gold mineralization occurs within a system of gold-bearing quartz veins trending northerly through the Link-Catharine, Central Catharine and 80-Foot Fall properties held under option by Golden Dawn. This northerly trend is intersected by a cross-trending series of breaks, providing the setting for the possible development of clusters of subparallel or reticulated vein systems together with possible pervasive gold mineralization.

The property is accessible by road and the area has good infrastructure. The program is scheduled for eight weeks, with results to be reported when received. This project is being overseen by E.T.Kimura, P.Geo., who has reviewed the contents of this press release.
