question about average grades

posted on Apr 06, 11 11:21PM

Hi,

Appreciate if someone could help me understand how average grades are calculated. i.e. if a company reports 100m with an average grade of 1g/t, including 10m with an average grade of 10g/t, does this mean that the average grade of the remaining 90m is significantly less than 1 g/t?

Or does it mean that every unit (1m?) length of core had an average grade of around 1g/t and that one 10m long section witin it had an average grade of 10g/t?

Thanks and brgds - BW.
