HTC Purenergy Inc. (dba "HTC Purenergy") Announces Private Placement

REGINA, SASKATCHEWAN--(Marketwire - May 5, 2009) - HTC Purenergy ("HTC") (TSX VENTURE:HTC) announces that, subject to regulatory approvals, it will issue 43,744 common voting shares at a price of $2.75 per share, for the gross proceeds of $120,296.00 to ATSI, Inc. ("ATSI").

ATSI is a New York based, full service consulting engineering firm with offices in New York, Indiana and Pennsylvania, specializing in heavy industrial facility design and modifications, high-temperature applications and analytical engineering. ATSI has recently completed a Front End Engineering Design (FEED) engagement for HTC, finalizing the design of the Hydrogen Demonstration Project to be located at the University of Regina.

Proceeds from this United States based investor financing will be utilized for the continued commercialization of HTC's "Purenergy CCS" pre-engineered, modular CO2 Capture System.
