Highland Finalizes Airborne Survey on Humboldt Bay Property in the Beardmore-Geraldton Gold Belt
Vancouver, British Columbia, February 25, 2010 ... Highland Resources Inc. (the "Company") has recently begun work on its Humboldt Bay property in the Beardmore-Geraldton area of Northern Ontario. The property consists of 57 claims totalling almost 13,700 hectares (856 claim units). Highlights of the Humboldt Bay property include:

  1. The property has excellent access along Highway 801 from Highway11. A major logging road, The Auden Road, passes through the entire length of the property.
  2. The property is underlain by rocks of the Onaman-Tashota Greenstone Belt which has had significant historical production in the 1930s and 1940s from the Sturgeon River Gold Mine (77,000 oz gold) and the Tashota Goldfields Mine (12,300 oz gold). The Tashota Goldfields Mine is along strike from the Humboldt Bay property.
  3. The property contains the Brennan Gold Showing discovered in 1936. The most recent work in 1991 exposed the zone over a strike length of 575 meters. This gold-bearing quartz vein reportedly produced a 50 lb composite bulk sample assaying 0.49 oz/ton Au (Millenbach-Hopkins, 1976).
  4. Near the area of the Brennan showing, two exploration programs reported significant results:

    1. A soil survey carried out by Kerr Addison Mines in 1984 reported scattered gold (up to 150 ppb) and copper anomalies (up to 690 ppm) over a 10 km length to the south-east of the Brennan showing.
    2. In 1990 Asarco drilled 116 reverse circulation drill holes over the total strike length of 14 km and heavy mineral concentrates defined two areas, approximately 2 km apart, that were highly anomalous in gold (up to 6000 ppb).

      No work has subsequently been done on these zones.
In addition to showings on the property there are numerous gold-silver and base metal occurrences present in the Onaman-Tashota Belt that highlight this prospective area. Recent positive exploration results in this belt of rocks include:
  1. Up to 38 g/t Au, 0.44% Cu and 0.42% Mo in channel samples (Crooked Green Lake Property, 2000)
  2. Up to 4.87g/t Au, 964 g/t Ag, 0.89% Cu and 6.84% Zn in channel samples within poly-metallic massive sulphide deposits (Con Creek Property, 2000)
  3. Intrusive hosted nickel-copper deposits including the Jacobus deposit reported by Sage Gold Inc. to have an historical resource (not compliant with 43-101 standards of reporting) of nearly 1 million tonnes at 0.40%Cu and 0.40% Ni and recent drill results including intersections of up to 22.6m of 0.70% Cu and 0.74% Ni.
In summary the property has an excellent geological context for multiple deposit types, including gold, base metal (copper, zinc, lead, with silver and gold), nickel-copper with possible platinum-palladium, and significant molybdenum showings. Significant showings have been discovered with past reconnaissance exploration, but much of the property, particularly to the north of the Brennan Showing, is covered with overburden and has not been receptive to historical prospecting and thus remains as untested highly prospective ground.

To initiate exploration on this promising property, Highland is in the final stages of planning a detailed airborne magnetic and electro-magnetic survey over the entire property. This survey will be completed within the next 6 weeks and will help to define controls on the gold structures and possible poly-metallic massive sulphide base metal deposits. The airborne survey will be used to direct ground programs in the spring and summer of 2010 on promising geophysical targets. It is anticipated that any positive results of this work could be drill target-ready for a winter drill program in the first quarter of 2011.

Highland Resources is pleased to report that the Company has started drilling at its second of four gold mineralized targets on the Rickaby Property (the "Property") in the Beardmore-Geraldton Gold Camp of the Thunder Bay Mining District. Targets were initially defined by positive channel sampling results from October and November 2009 work, but have now been greatly expanded along strike by encouraging IP anomalies directly associated with the known mineralization. IP was chosen for the survey method as it was expected to have good response to the disseminated pyrite associated with the gold mineralization.

The work programs at the Rickaby a nd Humboldt Bay properties are designed and managed by GeoVector Management Inc. The technical information contained in this news release has been verified by Joseph Campbell, P. Geo., President of GeoVector, who is a Qualified Person as defined in "National Instrument 43-101, Standards of Disclosure for Mineral Properties."
