They are going to smelt the Chromite where they can make the most money. Just as they are not going to pay one more cent per share than they have to(which I hope is more than we got for SPQ). Money drives the machine, always has always will. I understand about wanting to keep or create jobs where it comes from and would be good for the FN's in the ROF. From what I have seen those people have it pretty tough. IMHO Ontario needs to step up to the plate if they want to play ball. Reminds me of the City of Dallas and negotiating with the Cowboys on building a new or renovating the old Football stadium. Dallas had a Mayor that was dead set against any public money going to help the rich owner or the NFL. The Cowboys and the NFL would have prefered the stadium be built in Dallas. Well the mayor said no and the mayor in Arlington saw a golden oprtunity to bring the development to his city they struck a deal and the rest is history. They were not even hesitant to offer the tax incentives. Back in the mid to early 90's they cut a deal for a Baseball stadium and I want to say the revenue generated paid all the taxes and bonds back in half the time and they are still playing there today and having the stadium bring in revenue and jobs. Do I think it is "fair" of course not. They could have built the stadium anywhere but they took the best deal offered to them and IMHO that is what CLiffs or any other company who mines the ROF will do. Once they decide to ship it out of the province going to be harder to get them to come back. Maybe in time solar, wind or other renewable forms of energy will get competitive but as of now it is not. Solar does work on my calculator and my gate at my house but not ecomical past that for me at the moment. I do not like buying anything made in China but if it is half the price of something made in the US it is hard not to buy.

Cliff's does not own all the chromite is the ROF. Say they build a smelter and have2x the electricity rates as Quebec and Xstrata comes in buys up Probe or Noront Fnc or whatever Chromite they can get and can ship it off and use the saving as a competitive advantage the CLiffs had just f'd up big.

Ok no more rambling the day job is calling

GLTA - going to get interesting real soon IMHO
