Ring of Fire: A Road and Railway through a Development Corporation

A east west light service road will be the first infrastructure into the Ring of Fire. Next will the North South Railway.



A North South all-seasons road (in purple) will not be built.

An East West light weight seasonal road (marked in green) will be first. A light weight East West service seasonal road can be economically constructed through the mostly boggy swampy route.

While it will never be upgraded to support the weight of a railroad, nor a heavy grade industrial all-seasonal road to carry chromite ore, at first, the nickel concentrate, mine and railway construction equipment and supplies can travel this light service road route.

Noront Resource's ROF Eagle Nest mine can produce 150,000 tonnes of nickel concentrate per year for from 12 to 20 years. Noront's Eagle's Nest has an estimate ~$10B gross nickel revenue.

Once the North South railroad is completed, Noront could switch delivery of nickel concentrate in order to minimize transportation costs of ~$6.33/t. The East West service road allows for construction of the ONTC James Bay Port Authority railway from the north and south end simultaneously, shaving construction time.
