LRAD-RX(R) Systems Ordered by City of Fort Worth
for Perimeter Security of Critical Infrastructure
Company Also Receives Opening Order for Middle East Oil Tankers
and Follow-On Order from Thailand
SAN DIEGO, CA, December 8, 2011 – LRAD Corporation (NASDAQ: LRAD), the world's leading provider of acoustic hailing devices (AHDs), announced today it has received a LRAD-RX systems order from Fort Worth, TX as part of aperimeter security upgrade to one of the city's critical infrastructure facilities.
"LRAD-RX systems provide government and commercial security officials a new first responder capability," remarked Tom Brown, president and CEO of LRAD Corporation. "LRAD-RX empowers security personnel to quickly secure the perimeters of critical infrastructure by remotely deterring intruders from the safety of command and control centers."
The Company also announced an opening order from the Middle East for anti-piracy oil tanker installations and a follow-on order from Thailand's Department of Disaster Response. The three orders total over $600,000 and will ship this quarter.
Using advanced sound reproduction technologies and innovative acoustic materials LRAD(R) systems are vastly superior to bullhorns and other portable mass notification systems in loudness, intelligibility and broadcast distance. Through the use of powerful, highly intelligible voice and alarm tone broadcasts, LRAD uses communication to create increased standoff and safety zones, determine intent, support peaceful conflict resolution, and potentially save lives on both sides of the Long Range Acoustic Device(R).
"These orders showcase LRAD's broad spectrum of applications in growing markets," Brown concluded.
