Mantis Uncovers Historical Data Illustrating High Grades

at Depth at The Orphan Mine, Adjacent to Kodiak Exploration

TORONTO, Dec. 6 /CNW/ - Mantis Mineral Corp. is pleased to announce that

recent research into historical documents filed in 1987 through the Alberta

Stock Exchange by Canadian Gold Resources Inc. illustrate the gold

mineralization potential of the Orphan Mine vein systems. This research is an

on-going compilation of information from which a Geographic Information System

('GIS') database is being constructed of the Orphan vein system to assist with

expediting future exploration programs.

Cautionary note:

While these assays are of a historical nature and do not conform to

National Instrument 43-101 they are generally considered reliable

according to local industry standards.

Significantly the intersection reported in DDH-16 was at a 675-foot

vertical depth, 425-feet below the 250-foot level of the mine.

These holes constitute a portion of the 7,500-foot drill program that was

undertaken between October 1986 and February 1987. The collar locations of all

the holes in relation to the Orphan vein will be added to the GIS data base,

and made available for viewing on the company website in the near future.

"These results are also significant because they confirm the continuation

of strong gold mineralization to depth. Kodiak Exploration's recent drill

program reported high-grades at similar depths and geological experts on this

camp believe that mineralization could extend as deep as 2000-meters."

The Orphan Main Vein was accessed by a 262-foot deep shaft and ore was

mined by drifting on the 150-foot level for 202-feet and on the 250-foot level

for 352-feet. Historical records indicate that minimal mining was done in two

very small stopes (an underground working where ore is removed by upward

progressions in lateral sections in the plane of the vein), presumably leaving

behind substantial ore. Historical data has delineated target blocks for

potential tonnage calculations. The projection is to the 320-foot level. As is

illustrated from historical reports, down dip the vein is open to hosting

significant gold mineralization.
