There are some high level discussions going on currently in China, and apparently they are looking at an opportunity in 2008 to begin to outperform the US in terms of the net annual GDP increase. If that happens, China will be moving to the #1 buyer postition in just about all commodities from the global market very soon.

I don't think the US wants to be replaced, but the current momentum is working against it.
