Webequie and Marten Falls are on diesel generation. The corridor you mention is an extension from Conawopa generating site in Manitoba and there were three routing options to be considered ( the last I heard). The planning discussions were for a DC line. To step down from that would be expensive. I do know that the First Nations were having meetings with the Province to discuss routing issues and the possibility of including an all weather road into the transmission corridor. All of this would be contingent on far more communities than just Webequie agreeing. Any route south would require a bridge being built somewhere between Fort Hope and Marten Falls First Nations to cross the Albany River. What would need to happen, IMHO, would be for a collective position from all interested parties, First Nations , Mining interests etc directed towards the Ontario Government and the Federal Government. The Feds do have a considerable stake here as well. The amount of money a road would save them by re designating the remote communities to semi remote would be considerable. These discussions around the transmission corridor have been ongoing for several years and I'd guess probably The Ministry of Energy is the only ones with a good handle on what where and when.
