If you and your buddies were staking where you could simpily drive to the location staking wouldn't cost to much. Claim tags cost $2.40 and line tags cost $1/tag. The recording costs depend on the size of the claim block. Most of the claim blocks in the ROF are 16 claim unit blocks (i.e. means the claim is 1600 metres by 1600 metres). Just fyi a claim unit is 400m x 400m. To record a 16 unit block costs $61.20. So overall between the ministry costs and your gas costs it doesn't cost that much. However you asked about staking in ROF. Here you require a helicopter or otter/beaver to get to the area. You are looking at approximately $1300/hr for the helicopter and approximately $5k if using plane. Next you have to figure out where you will stay. If you intend to remain in the bush you have to setup a camp, fly in fuel, etc. Staking the ROF is far from cheap and probably most of the companies that staked in the area paid $100k + depending on their land positions.
