Here is a link to maps of the Precambrian geology of the James Bay Lowlands, presented in the form of a poster at the Ontario Exploration and Geoscience Symposium Dec. 9-10, 2008, in Sudbury. The ROF is at lower left of map 2, and you'll see that there are multiple intrusive events shown (different ages), as well as vast areas of the same intrusions not yet explored. The maps need to be carefully lined up, as they are not oriented such that features in the map of the western JBL line up with those on the eastern JBL map. The ROF portion if map 2 is south of the most southern bound of map 1 (unfortunately). It would appear that the north rim of the ROF, as well as the McFaulds's East and e.g. Probe's Victory project appear to be derived from a second, younger, and distinct intrusive event from that which produced the Eagles, and all the chromite. The middle of the ring has regions that appear to be highly prospective, based on the age and type of deposit identified.

If anybody is interested, the Ontario Geological Survey has made available a 2 DVD set of data related to this recently completed survey, for $50. The title is: Precambrian Geology and Aeromagnetic Data of the Hudson Bay and James Bay Lowlands Region with Precambrian Basement Depth Estimates and Related Tables of Geochronology and Diamond-Drill Hole Data; by G.M. Stott, S.D. Josey, D.R.B. Rainsford and S.J. McIlraith. Hardcopy maps like the ones in the above poster should be released soon, including one distinct from the two in the poster, and covering the region to the south of the ROF.
