Can the HHT( you know the hand held thingie) give the Geos a good indication of the Nickel content of these huge intersections.

Oh yes. They know within an error of +/- 10% (at most) of the measured value what the assay should come in at, at lower metal concentrations. At higher values, within a percent or two.

So, for example, if the HHT gave a reading of 1.0% nickel, the lab assay should come in somewhere between 0.9-1.1%. At 5% nickel, the assay should correspond very closely to the HHT value.
