tax question while we wait for FWR to hit the ball back into our court

posted on Nov 04, 09 08:59AM

Strato,

Just to be clear, my decision to surrender my FWR shares (eventually) has no tax implications in Canada ie. I don't have to pay any cap gains tax on the surrender? I merely rework my ACB of my NOT shares to incorporate the new shares and my original FWR ACB. On 'tax' paper I really like this deal, I don't pay tax on my FWR double (thx to NOT) and my NOT ACB drops a few %.

Maybe everyone who hold both FWR/NOT shares should take the time to do the tax math!
