There has been some discussion on how long roads will be open. The Province of Manitoba has an extensive winter road system on the east side of the province to access remote northern First Nation communities. The temperature and terrain are very similar to the conditions at ROF. These roads opened two weeks ago to light vehicles. Manitoba Hydro transports diesel fuel and other goods on the winter roads to these communities via highway tractors with trailers. Their vehicles were allowed on the road one week ago. Manitoba Hydro has been advised that the tentative closing date is March 18.The link below has some info on winter roads but the timelines that I have provided came from a friend at Manitoba Hydro.
