The Wildlands League says this photo shows a 'disturbed and disrupted' landscape. in the Ring of Fire. The circular marks show where drilling rigs have left an imprint and the cut lines are part of early mining exploration work that removes vegetation to create a grid for locating mineral finds. Using my (?3rd grade math) the area of a circle equals: 3.14 x radius squared

Using the above photo AREA= 3.14x (~0.5km)x (~0.5km) = 0.785 square kilometres (0.3 square miles or less than 200 acres)

The Ring of Fire has been variably described as between 4000 and 5000 Square Km ( 1500 to 1900 square miles or ~ 1 million acres ) .

Cheers,

Luker

Buddy can you spare a square?
