's Independent Electricity System Operator (IESO) study concluded:

"The cost of diesel generation in remote communities is 3-10 times more than the average cost of power in Ontario. Power supply cost for Ontario's 25 remote communities is about $90 million/year and growing; this cost is mostly subsidized through Ontario electricity rates (ratepayers) and the federal government"

TM...some comment to your question:-

The person you mentioned in the photo - op pic is Bob charelli ON minister of energy for the ON liberal party, and responsible for already doubling Ontario energy rates for all Ontario taxpayers during the Wynne liberal regime of the past two years, with another doubling committed in the next three years.

The IESO ( above ) quote from the Babjack post notes that Ontario ratepayers (all of us who live in Ontario) and the federal government have been subsidizing the $90 M / year diesel energy costs for many years.

Note: its not the Ontario government who has been paying for the 25 FN communities (energy subsidies) mentioned in the IESO report.

Just wondering.....

Where was Rickford, the fed minister responsible? (He's also) fed minister of energy for the north).....> Who paid the majority of the diesel energy FN cost subsidies:--- it is/was the feds.

Where is the $1.35 billion Wataway investment coming from??.... is it from even higher Ontario electricity rates? Or is it from the feds continued FN energy subsidies?

Will the FN be forced to pay the doubled again 1918 ON energy rates? Will the feds have to continue their FN energy subsidies? Will ON taxpayers have to continue their current FN energy rate payer subsidies? What rates will Noront be forced to pay, for (eg) ferro chrome processing?

Anybody think Gravelly will answer these questions? Charelli won't.

Too many hugely important funding questions unanswered. I'm suspicious given the Mcginty/ Wynne 10 year fiscal track record and decimated Ontario manufacturing sector due to its uncompetitive energy pricing......

but one can always mindlessly hope.

It is, after all, election promises time... and Wynne seems to be speaking for the FED Liberals these days.

If/ When a fed minister speaks on the RoF in the next two months; maybe some cmmittments to count on.

Summers over , again. It's time for tangible federal government RoF commitment actions. ON Provincial cmmittments have proven to be baloney. RCF won't be around for yet another year if no cmmittments , IMO
