Message: Boost Mines Sector Pressure from OCC and SCC

Sounds like some kind of provincial announcement before year end!

"The Ontario chamber makes nine recommendations in a report called Digging Deeper: Strengthening Ontario's Mining Advantage. In it, the chamber urges the province to invest in northern infrastructure, clarify the consultation process between First Nations and mining companies, and develop a resource revenue sharing framework for aboriginal communities."

"The OCC timed the release of the 27-page report just before the province is expected to present an updated mineral development strategy before the end of the year."

"The chamber is attempting to keep the spotlight on mining after the release in the last couple of years of two reports outlining the tremendous impact mining the Ring of Fire will have on the entire province."

"The mining sector has a long history of bringing benefits to communities across Ontario and with the right steps, it can continue do so in the future," said Karen Hourtovenko, chair of the board of the Greater Sudbury Chamber of Commerce. "What the industry needs is a clear signal the federal and provincial governments are committed to positioning Ontario as the premier destination for mining investment," Hourtovenko said in a news release.
