I think they haven't objected to the railroad because it will in the future give them more leverage to let everyone think it will go ahead unopposed. They really have nothing to lose by keeping quiet and they know the Chinese are loaded (unlike the Ontario and Canadian governments) and are potentially a new source of money. However when there is real money on the table not just ideas, you will see a lot of complaining and a big hand out.
