Not Markets, imo.
Markets only reacted to the vote news and before that to the polls and bookies who were taking bets. Up to several days ago bookies were betting on Brexit followed by a prominent British MP Jo Cox, who was in favour of staying with EU, was killed and that swayed the polls to stay. Just before the vote polls swayed back to exit.

If we do not interpret events correctly then will always get it wrong.
