I think that hub leaders who enforce conformity are misusing the powers vested in the hub leader position. The six rules were designed to keep the debate on-topic, and to promote civil conduct. They were never intended, in my perhaps not so humble opinion, as an opportunity to censor content, apart from content prohibited by those rules.

As to wanting to be a hub leader, I can assure you that I do not want the job. Other than seeing the inner workings here, there is no benefit that I can think of. It is a quirk of my character, though, that when I see something than needs doing, especially if it's of the "stitch in time saves nine" variety, I get it done first. Then I look around and see who perhaps should have been doing that work.

Agoracom has abdicated much of that responsibility, IMHO, and because of that, people like me end up doing a lot of work. Work that we never asked for, work that is not directly to our benefit to perform, and especially, work that the casual forum member does not even realize is being done on their behalf.

So, I salute my fellow hub leaders. I salute the contribution you make, every day. I salute you, because you're doing the right thing, even though nobody knows you're doing so.
