Company to Focus on Increasing Awareness of Stabilized Rice Bran as an Overlooked Renewable Food Source

SCOTTSDALE, AZ--(Marketwire -11/29/11)- NutraCea (OTCQB: NTRZ.PK - News) (Pinksheets: NTRZ.PK - News), a global leader in the production and marketing of value added products derived from rice bran, today announced that it is exhibiting at FI Europe 2011, held in Paris Norde Villepinte, France, from November 29th to December 1, 2011.

On October 31, 2001, the United Nations estimated that the population of the planet reached 7 billion people and that the global population is projected to grow to between 9 and 10 billion people over the next 20 to 30 years. This growth creates an unprecedented challenge to society which will need to develop new, sustainable and renewable resources to feed those additional 2 to 3 billion people while protecting the environment. According to the book, "Vegetable Protein Marketing" by Henk Hoogenkamp, one of the most overlooked food sources is rice bran, calling it "a nutritional powerhouse, packed with bioavailable protein and its many antioxidants, phytonutrients, gamma oryzanol and soluble and insoluble dietary fiber. It stands as a functional ingredient, well suited for enhancing many food, beverage and meat products." NutraCea's proprietary and patented technologies allow it to take the often discarded by-products of rice milling, rice bran, and convert it into valued added food ingredients and edible oils, usable in a number of high-quality human food applications such as ready to eat cereals, baked goods, pasta, processed meats, nutrition bars and batters/breadings, as well as high quality animal nutrition products, all in a sustainable and renewable way.

"Rice is one of the world's primary food sources with 600 to 700 million metric tons produced annually. Today, as much as 60 million metric tons of raw rice bran, about 10% of total rice production by weight, is directed to low quality animal feed. In a world facing increasing pressures on global food supplies, we need solutions that can more efficiently and effectively solve the world's need for high-quality food sources without putting more pressure on the environment. Our stabilization process provides the vehicle to convert raw rice bran from feed to food in a renewable and sustainable way," said W. John Short, Chief Executive Officer of NutraCea. "At FI Europe, we will be working with our distribution partners, including BENEO-Remy, to highlight the many beneficial properties and applications for stabilized rice brand in food production."

NutraCea will be exhibiting in the Natural Ingredients section located in Hall 3, Booth #3F52.
