Opal Energy Profile

Opal Energy Corp., through its U.S. subsidiary Opal Energy Inc., offers an aggressive, disciplined and results-oriented vehicle to invest in the U.S. Exploration and Production “E&P” sector with a particular focus on natural gas exploration targets in South Texas. The business strategy is to build asset value through drilling, growing a production platform upon which will be superimposed some potential high value exploration opportunities. Drilling inventory will be continuously enhanced by the implementation of a series of proprietary 3-D seismic shoots.

The 2007 plan calls for a well drilling program and the completion of a 75 square mile state of the art 3-D seismic shoot. Systematic processing of this 3-D seismic data set using sophisticated state of the art software should lead to the unveiling of attractive "never before seen" targets.

Opal has launched an ambitious value creation initiative called the Opal Giants strategy. The concept is to secure targets that compare favourably in size to the large offshore structures that are yielding such success in the Gulf of Mexico. The difference being, Opal's targets will be onshore and therefore very much less expensive to drill and remarkably less expensive to commercialize should they warrant. Opal's approach is to 1) secure a number of these giant prospects so that statistically the odds of success are increased and 2) secure outside drilling partners that will carry Opal through the drilling phase of the wells.

Opal Energy has full spectrum capacity through its team of talented professionals with outstanding capabilities in the following areas of expertise:

Direct Hydrocarbon Detection
Opal has many years of leading edge expertise in the use of Direct Hydrocarbon Indicators and other attribute analysis to aid in the selection of high quality natural gas prospects.

Ultra Deep Wells
Opal now has on staff professionals who have considerable experience in drilling wells even as deep as 29,000 feet.

High Pressure High Temperature Environments
Opal professionals are comfortable in these challenging environments and for instance recently took over and completed the Kane Brandon # 1 well which is 18,500 feet deep and has bottom hole temperatures of 440 ° F.

Fracturing Expertise
Opal staff have been involved in a great number of “frac” jobs. They have been innovators and teachers in this technically demanding activity that can mean the difference between a successful well or a duster.
