Opawica Explorations Inc.(“Opawica” / the “Company”) (TSX: OPW) announces the following drill hole results from the in-fill drilling program of the Maybrun gold and copper deposit on the Company’s Atikwa Lake property located near Kenora, Ontario.
Opawica has now completed 69 drill holes on the Atikwa Lake property totalling 13,436 meters under the current 2008 drilling program. Opawica has previously reported on 37 of the 69 holes drilled under the current program. The Company is reporting on 6 further recently received holes and has restated previously announced hole AT-08-32 to include an interval of 1m of 12.11% copper per tonne within 3m of surface as detailed in Table 1 below.
Hole AT-08-43 has returned the highest grade gold intercept to date, for Opawica drilling, of118 g/t Au which check assayed up to 159.77 g/t Au over 1.1m at a vertical depth of about 20m. This interval has been cut to 30 g/t Au as detailed in table 1 below. Assay results are pending on a further 26 holes all of which are a part of the Maybrun zone in-fill drilling program. The purpose of this in-fill drilling is to enable an independent resource calculation to be carried out by Golder & Associates Ltd. on the Maybrun deposit. This resource calculation is expected to be completed within the next three months and is scheduled to be delivered to the Company contemporaneously with the metallurgical test work results on Atikwa Lake (Maybrun) ores being conducted by Gekko Systems Pty Ltd. of Australia.
