I am not an international tax accountant, but taking the view of various $MEGA companies holding their cash offshore from USA for tax penalty reasons ... the thinking is that they would be able to spend on a Canadian POET, without risking deemed repatriation and the associated IRS wrath.
from what I've seen, US Congress doesn't seem very willing to pass a tax holiday in order to accommodate a neutral (ie, penalty-free) repatriation.
from where I sit, that could be one very very good reason to keep PTK a Canadian company.
