Dangers of Au mining

Searchers find third body in flooded Quebec mine. Link: http://ca.news.yahoo.com/s/capress/091103/national/missing_miners

One can just imagine the dangers that the artisan miners must be facing in the backwoods of northern Peru. A mine in our own backyard, Quebec, with all the safety features in play resulting from our affluent safety boards still takes lives.

The sooner PLE gets moving in Bolsa, the less the risk will be to those Peruvian artisans that have little choice in finding ways & means to feed their family, all at their mortal peril - mining there must be so fraught with dangers.

DESMARAISVILLE, Que. - The body of a third miner missing in a northern Quebec mine since last Friday has been recovered.

Marc Guay, who was 31, and two other men were trapped when a gold mine was flooded in Desmaraisville, Que. Guay's body was found late last night.

The bodies of the two other men - 44-year-old Dominico Bollini and 36-year-old Bruno Goulet - were discovered earlier Monday.

Rescue workers had frantically pumped water from hundreds of metres below ground in the hope of finding Guay alive.

Bollini, Goulet and Guay went down to do repair work on Friday night, but when the elevator was pulled back up, it was empty.

Bollini and Goulet worked for Metanor Resources while Guay was an employee of mining contractor Montali.

Officials have said they don't yet know what caused the flooding.
