Multisectoral Commission propose solutions PROBLEM OF MOTHER OF GOD
A multisectoral commission pose solutions to the problems of informal mining in Madre de Dios, announced the general director of Mines, Victor Vargas, indicating that it corresponds not only to the mining sector, but involves other sectors.
This committee has been created and is chaired by the Ministry of Environment, also consists of the Regional Government, the Ministry of Energy and Mines and Mining Federations. She will address four major issues: the dismissal of petitions, the mining zones, the issue of dredging the riverbeds and the formalization process, he said.
"If all sectors aim to solve this problem we can achieve concrete results and that is the goal of the Ministry," the official said when interviewed by a local radio station.
He said the Ministry is aware of the negative environmental and social impacts caused by the mining that takes place outside the compliance, has an ongoing program, which includes an inventory of the population involved in this activity to have a starting point and begin the implementation of alternative solutions.
It is said, to mitigate the impacts of this activity, to limit and circumscribe the compliance, in a process of organization and formalized within the frameworks established by law.
Vargas said the Ministry of Energy and Mines is assisting in strategic areas to regional governments with a management program for tackling the issue of competence to the regions. "They are trained so they can run effectively and sancionadota drug control efforts," he said.
He revealed that three offices are functioning devolved MEM in the city of Puerto Maldonado - Madre de Dios, in Ananea - Puno, and Suyo - Piura to work in the ordering process and formalization of informal mining, with the aim of which is respects the environment and the rights of holders.
"These and other activities of the authority pay off, and this has been achieved and formalize order mining cooperatives, as in the case of Puno, which do not pollute the headwaters of the Rio Ramis" he said.
