Mining pollution affects northern Peru.

In 2010 it was learned that the mining activity in the canton Portovelo has been polluting the Yellow River and Caledon with the deposit of 11 tons of waste. Today northern Peru suffering the effects of the irregularity.
In this framework were closed a week ago two mining concessions in the county, according to the constant complaints to the Office of Environmental Crimes by Manuel Guideline. The action was due to the parameters predicted for a period of 3 months for mining conceciones not regularized.

In fact, the Environment Minister, Marcela Aguiñaga his arrival in June to the province of El Oro announced the closure orders to take off based on the Mining Act. He warned at the time that "the regulation is inevitable."

Secretary of State emphasized that in August initiate inspections in the mining concessions in order to know the conditions that have been working and the benefits offered to the workforce.

The census mining took effect on March 15, 2010 determined that 541 mining claims were not acting law-abiding. Only 39 met the requirements crafts census, had until August 1 to process the documentation and regulations. Prior to that authorities warned that those who did not could be closed.
