Directorate of energy and mines seeks solutions to informal mining.

Piura. A working meeting which discussed solutions to the issue of the mining illegal and informal in the region, developed members of the Regional Directorate of energy and mines and the Special Prosecutor in environmental matters, at the headquarters of the public prosecutor's Office. The appointment was also attended by representatives of the national police, management of natural resources, and the Directorate General for environmental health.

Officials of the institutions agreed that they must be coordinated and joint actions where prime the safeguarding of the environment and the rule of law. The situation of informality is such that from four years ago to date no mining have been filed, said the regional director of energy and mines, Mr. Alfredo Guzman Zegarra.

However, he emphasized that the DREM in charge is putting all his effort to find solutions definite and concerted; It is not dislodge or confiscate equipment, but formalizing this activity and to ensure that it does not impact negatively on the environment. For its part, the engineer Cristina Portocarrero, Manager of natural resources and environment, said that from the Bureau of management inter-agency work has been organized into three groups: one intended to pursue strategies to suit the mining activity, the second charge of building the legal instruments, and the third focused on actions to reduce the environmental impact.

For the next meeting of the Bureau of management inter-agency from the Informal mining which will take place on December 19, in the College of engineering, will be the diagnosis of informal mining by the DREM for socialization, and which will serve as an input to take appropriate measures; also the working groups will be announced the advances that have been developed to date.
