Sent to the Commission proposals for regulations on informal mining

The draft regulations that will mandate the activity of small-scale mining and artisanal mining in the region were referred to the Committee on natural resources and environment for its opinion, then that the Regional Council yesterday received the report of the regional director of energy and mines, Alfredo Guzman Zegarra, on the situation of informal and illegal mining in Piura.
During his presentation to the plenary, which counted with the presence of the regional Vice President Maximiliano Ruiz Rosales, Guzman Zegarra unveiled the scope of the work done by his agency to try to formalize mining drivers, which means that they have mining right for extraction, mining concession for treatment of minerals, and to comply with the rules in a way that will mitigate the negative effects on the environment.
On the other hand, it was reported that actions run to eradicate the activity of benefit of mines in areas that are protected by the State, such as the one located near bypass channels.
The present regional councillors were concerned at the lack of legislation that exists to date in the area of small mining and artisanal mining competition from regional Governments; However, the CEO, Luis Garufi Vidal reported that during his last visit, the Minister of the environment, Javier Pulgar Vidal said that legal instruments drawn up at local level in regulations thereon prepared by the Ministry of energy and mines will be taken into account.
For its part, the regional Vice President Maximiliano Ruiz said that it is urgent to regulate and manage the mining activity, which has spread to various parts of the region, so that it does not lead to adverse impacts that violates people's health, environmental and agricultural production.
The proposals sent to the Commission are the control regulation of the mining activity for small mining, artisan mining and illegal in Piura, and regulation for marketing and land transport of metallic and nonmetallic mining, and their by-products; which they were enriched with the contribution of representatives of public and private institutions involved in inter-agency management table.
The Committee on natural resources and the environment is headed by Nicholas Valladolid Frías, and has as members to Baldomero Marchena and Uristela Martinez Ojeda.
