Potash Corp. of Saskatchewan Inc. (POT CN) gained the most in more than nine years, rising 8.7 percent to C$155. The world's largest maker of crop nutrients had its share-price target increased to $211 (C$209.27) from $175 by UBS AG's. Smaller rival Rival Agrium Inc. (AGU CN) climbed 9.3 percent to C$71.06, the most since Jan. 6, 2000. Agrium had its share-price forecast raised to C$86.60 from C$79.64 by UBS, which left its ``buy'' ratings for both Potash and Agrium unchanged.

Finance shares rose after the Federal Reserve, the Bank of Canada and European central banks announced plans to offer up to $245 billion of liquidity to markets to ease a credit shortage.
